He reason that Bruce Wayne ’s family are supplanter , and that he , as Azrael , is the true guardian of Gotham , and that he alone has the persuasiveness to do what is necessary by killing Gotham ’s worst criminals . The two fight with swords until an errant blow nicks the wrong part of Azrael ’s neck . Despite his earlier design , the wound startles Batman , and he tries to save Valley . As he place fail , Azrael affirms and forgives Batman , but the fact that he ’s seemingly taken a liveliness guarantees that Bruce Wayne will flex himself in .
Ultimately , Batman travel along through on his plans - Batmobiles are donated to the GCPD , Wayne Enterprises is turned into a gang of charity organizations , and his total destiny is given away . But , in the closing page , it appears that Bruce Wayne has a plan . He waves off his friends ’ endeavor to help him escape , and finally lands in jail , when he ’s approached by a military officer . One who “ bonk Batmans ’ put-on ” , with the last name , “ Todd ” . The End . This looks like a reference to Jason Todd , giving him anew focusing or destiny somehow . If that ’s the case , Murphy and Hollingsworth could definitelyadd anotherhome rivulet to their Elseworlds character studies .
The conclusion of this serial offers quite a bit to the Batman story . Here ’s an affair where the Dark Knight seemingly breaks his only pattern . He feel big about it , sure , but when everything comes crash down around him , when he loses his history , his friend , and when some other guy is jumping around in a decent interlingual rendition of his suit of clothes , he loses himself a little moment .
