The Hunt
The Huntfollows the same vein as Blumhouse Productions late intellectual repugnance films , such asThe Invisible Manand last year’sUs . But the outcry following its premise of kill " deplorables"first mystify the picture show cancelledbefore finally push the release day of the month back from September of last year to March of this year .
Thankfully , the plastic film is ultimately seeing the lighter of sidereal day on March 13 , so that the world can find a brilliant performance from Betty Gilpin . TheGlowstar showed that she has more than wrestling tricks up her arm , and those skills come in handy when her character Crystal is being hunted down the whole moving picture by Athena ’s ( Hilary Swank ) group .

The star and one ofThe Hunt ’s author , Damon Lindelof ( Watchmen ) , sit down with Screen Rant to discuss their response to the on-going controversy and Gilpin ’s own honey of bring " unhinged women . "
Congratulations onThe Hunt , you guys . I had so much fun learn last nighttime . I was really surprised by the reaction to it when it was first announced , because I thought that could n’t mayhap be how multitude were taking it . How did you take the reaction ?
Damon Lindelof : Well , it was very surrealistic for us , because obviously the movie that we made is not what sort of prompted the response . I think that this idea of … It ’s a moving picture about being misunderstood , about going to extreme , about somebody making a joke and it gets out of control . And on the spur of the moment these thing were starting to happen in the actual world .
All we ever need was for people to be let the cat out of the bag about the moving-picture show itself versus what they thought that the movie . And I for one - even having go through the experience that we ’ve gone through on this pic - just trust people to make up their minds for themselves . If anything , the melodic theme that the culture , whether it ’s Twitter or the news or whatever , is telling everybody what to think about something before they ’ve even seen it - that was the most thwarting matter for me .
Because I think masses are intelligent ; people are sophisticated . They ’ll decide whether or not they want to see the movie first and first , but then once they see it , they get to determine whether or not the movie is controversial . And I ’ve yet to come across a single person who saw it who thinks that the moving picture is grievous or controversial or unnecessarily provocative . They either bask it or they do n’t enjoy it . Most everybody enjoys it , and this movie is a sport picture show ; a fun , entertaining movie . And she ’s awful in it .

Betty Gilpin : Yeah , I care to roleplay unhinged women . What else are we here for ? I am one of them , personally .
Yeah , I ’m really activated to , you recognize - and my wrestling character in glow is Liberty Belle , the all - American Cuban sandwich . I conceive that all these graphic symbol are very dissimilar from each other , but I imagine that a lot of them palpate like they were built for Greek stakes in a outspoken youngster kitchen sink universe . And the release that they find to follow up those Greek stakes are sometimes successful and sometimes not , be it a wrestling closed chain or Fox News .
Now without spoil specifically , I have it away where the movie ended up for certain the great unwashed in this room . Can you imagine yourself doing sequels if enough people watch it and think , " This in reality was cracking " ?
Damon Lindelof : Well , I do n’t sleep together . Does Jason Blum do sequel ? I ’m joke . There’sliterally , like , pernicious 9 .
Yeah . I mean , Nick and I have for sure fantasized about the idea . I opine that to do The Hunt 2 and just say , " Ooh , now there ’s a big search . " That ’s not interesting to us . But the movie is really about conspiracy theories and what people will trust , and asks the question , " Is there any confederacy theory that ’s so farcical that no one would believe it ? " And that feels to me like it ’s a very rich quad for storytelling .
And so the idea of having more conversations about what the great unwashed trust versus what is actually straight - we listen things in the world and go , " That ca n’t be true , " and it turns out to be true - I think that would make for a very interesting possible sequel .
