This new set of armour definitely evokes sci - fi andStar warfare , given the helmet ’s striking similarity toan Imperial Stormtrooper ’s , a Darth Vader - esque ness , and the fact that his sword channels zip — it crackles with Kirby acid . He ’s even acting like Vader , setting a trap for his Word with a loved one as bait . Under the mask , though , this Slade carry a number of raw scars , and he ’s even more distant than the Slade we already know : when he burst into his ex - wife ’s home to lure Jericho to the slaughter , it ’s suggested he ’s not visit her in years .
