As their relationship arise , Sydney go to Ryan ’s flat where they watch Judge Judy , fume some Mary Jane , and proceed to have sex . But just when they are about to , Sydney becomes pleasured to the point where her power go haywire and she smart Ryan . As soon as Ryan gets hurt , she leaves the flat , never to see the lady friend again .
Though , Sydney in the Netflix serial is golden because she always has someone there to catch her every prison term she fall . In the series , when Stan almost hits Sydney with his railroad car during a rainstorm , he sees her powers in activity as she shove off back a group of evergreen trees with a psionic eruption . Rather than running out from Sydney after witnessing her powers , he stay put with and comfort her . In addition to comfort her , he becomes her wise man as he tries to train her by using his backcloth cognition on superheroes after reading countless comic book . Furthermore , her best friend and crush , Dina is there for her throughout the majority of the serial publication . In the novel , Sydney does n’t really have anyone to confide in ; at least , not until the very end when she tells her female parent what happened to Brad . In the get-go , Sydney stops address with Dina because she becomes enfold around Brad ’s finger . It ’s not until Dina end up in a infirmary bed after being beaten by Brad for telling him she ’s pregnant , which does n’t happen in the novel , does Sydney speak with Dina again . In the Netflix serial , after Sydney waste up Brad ’s drumhead at homecoming , she goes to the tower on Mt. Susquehanna and decides to run aside . But before running off , she meets the smokey specter that has been follow her around throughout the serial and the serial ends on a cliffhanger by not explain theidentity of the apparition . Though , Forsman ’s novel takes a different approaching to the story ’s remainder . After Sydney stamp out Brad by mentally squeezing his brain , which does n’t produce as much of a mess as in the series , she confides a footling in her mother and look Brad ’s funeral . After attending his funeral , she go to Mt. Susquehanna and takes one retentive expression at her diary before exploding her own head . There is one moment where there is an apparition , but it only results from Sydney ’s powers and is not a major secret plan gunpoint .
The one alteration that stands out from the eternal sleep is the fact that there is going to be a protraction of the series and Sydney does n’t kill herself in the end . Although , the Netflix seriesI Am Not Okay With Thisis very different from the novel , it ’s clear that fans are not sorry there ’s go to be a continuation .
