Joker
JokerdirectorTodd Phillipsand starJoaquin Phoenixhave uncover their favorite blue-pencil scenes from the supervillain descent movie - but alas , fans will probably never get to see them . A new take on Batman ’s most infamous nemesis , Jokerstars Phoenix as a miserable goof - for - hire hurt from mental sickness , who embraces a life-time of fury after being pushed too far by a hostile and merciless club .
The original cut ofJokerwas30 minutes longerthan the eventual theatrical cut , so fans may have been hoping for some deleted scenes with the eventual home television release - if not a full music director ’s cut . Phillips has shot down that theme , convey his dislike for blue-pencil scenes , but he did offer some hope that we might see a montage of Joker pass water his entranceway onMurray Franklin ’s show .

Speaking toCollider , Phillips was asked about the possibility of a director ’s cut or the release of some delete scene , and responded strongly : " I detest f**king extend cuts . I hate deleted scenes … They ’re deleted for a reason … The movie that exists is exactly the pic I require it to be and I will never show a deleted panorama . " This seems to put paid to any hopes of seeing what ended up on the cutting room floor - but even if deleted scenes are n’t on the table , there ’s one extra goody that Phillips feels warmly about .
" While I do n’t wish deleted scene , we did edit out this playfulness thing together … of [ Joker ] walking out on Murray Franklin , because every time the guy would go , Murray would stand and go , ‘ Please welcome Joker , ' and the curtains would open and he comes out and does something unlike every time . You eff the thing in the movie , he spins , he kisses the cleaning lady . But we cut this thing together of ‘ Please welcome Joker , ’ and I do n’t recognise , we did it 13 times maybe , and they ’re all different and they ’re so rummy and there ’s so many good I . I was like , ‘ Oh , I enquire why I did n’t use that one ? ' ”
A supercut of alternate payoff does n’t technically count as a deleted scene , so perhaps we ’ll get to see the collage of Joaquin Phoenix ’s various Joker entrances when the movie fare to Blu - beam . As for Phoenix himself , he has a personal favorite scene that did n’t make it into the film , in whichArthur Fleck(the Joker ’s alter ego ) speaks with his Centennial State - worker Randall in the stairwell at Ha - Ha ’s , the merry andrew hire company where they both lick . This scene set up a moment later on in the movie , where Arthur qualify the mark in the stairwell . For whatever ground , though , the tantrum was n’t a proficient fit for the last cut , as Phoenix explain :
“ There was a fit that , that during the shoot we believe was one of the safe scenes and we loved his behavior in the scene , and I ’d always really liked the scene . And Todd enjoin me and suppose , ‘ We ’re cutting that scene out . ’ And at first I thought , like , ‘ expect a minute , what do you imply you disregard that scene out ? ’ And then of course I see it , and it was very obvious . It has to go . ”
It ’s common for movies - peculiarly superhero movies - to include a few deleted scene on the house video discharge as an extra enticement to buy . late Marvel moviesAvengers : EndgameandSpider - Man : Far From Homeeven gotrereleased in theaterswith bonus footage as a agency to promote their box bureau . However , Jokerisn’t a typical superhero movie ( for starters , it does n’t have any superheroes in it ) , and fans of the movie would probably argue that it ’s everlasting the way it is .
