When adolescent slasher moving picture was at risk of exit out , Screamcame along to give   the genre   a big boost of energy . The 1996 Wes Craven film brilliantly took a meta approach to the familiar story of young adolescent being stalked by a masked killer . The characters were aware of similar repugnance photographic film and even identified the rules lay out for them in movies likeHalloweenandFriday the 13th .

The movie spawned three sequels that varied in quality . However , each film did manage to effectively keep audiences reckon about who the disguise Ghostface grampus was . Sometimes the reveal was a clever and shocking   reveal , other times it was quite underwhelming . Revisit the unmasking moment from each of the sequels with this ranking of the bestScreamkillers , from bad to best .

Roman Bridger (Scream 3)

Scream 3is widely regarded as the worst of the series so it makes sense that it also features the serial ' halting villains . The third picture mostly takes place on the set of the new " Stab " celluloid , the fabricated franchise based on the murders in the originalScream . Roman Bridger ( Scott Foley ) is introduced as the meek director of the film before it is revealed through some ludicrous retconning that he has a connection to Sidney Prescott ( Neve Campbell ) .

Roman is really the forget lovechild of Sidney ’s mom , and he is revealed to be the one who convinced the originalScreamkillers , Billy and Stu , to kill Sidney ’s mom . This is the form of faineant written material that happen when a franchise goes on for too long . Roman ’s motivating are far too wedge and clunky while the technology that allows him to mimic anyone ’s articulation is just mute .

Charlie Walker (Scream 4)

Scream 4also does n’t get a lot of dearest from lover , which is a turn unfair . However , the film does have some weak level , including the secondary killer Charlie Walker ( Rory Culkin ) .   Charlie sort of seems like the stand - in for Randy Meeks in the pseudo - reboot story , but it is finally revealed he has been one of the Ghostface killers all along .

While the still geek turning out to be a killer could have been a merriment twist for this series , the real problem with Charlie is that he has no motivation . He just seems to be a puppet for the real mastermind , and is dispose of with about as much thought . Also , his murder of Kirby ( Hayden Panettiere ) for apparently wait too long to make her move on him is just uncomfortable .

Mickey (Scream 2)

Scream 2might not play off the brilliance of the first film but it is a middling solid horror sequel . The movie cleverly plays off the secret plan of the   original to keep audiences guessing as to who the killer might be this meter around . The first killer reveal of Mickey ( Timothy Olyphant ) is avowedly a little underwhelming .

The job with Mickey as a scoundrel is that we barely even know him . He is introduced as a champion and schoolmate of Sidney and Randy but never really gets an chance to abide out . When he is revealed to be the orca , you have to take a moment to remember who he is . However , he is redeem a bit for the thinker games he make for with Sidney , successfully convincing her that her boyfriend is the existent grampus . Also , his motivation to become famed by blaming the motion-picture show for become him psychotic person is a good chip of comment .

Mrs. Loomis (Scream 2)

While the reveal of Mickey as Ghostface is not as electrifying as it could be , the second cause of death being Billy Loomis ' mother ( Laurie Metcalf ) is a pretty substantial wind . Metcalf is seen throughout the film as a rival newsperson to Gail Weathers ( Courteney Cox ) but we never really get the sense that she has anything to do with the main patch .

Her reveal is also a squeamish court to the original grampus ofFriday the 13th , Jason Voorhees ' female parent . Mrs. Loomis is also kick in a bit of a bump thanks to Metcalf ’s capital performance as a deranged and revengeful female parent . She really sells the flakiness in her eyes in those final scenes .

Stu (Scream)

One look of the originalScreamthat does n’t get enough credit is the brilliant reveal that the masked cause of death is actually two people . It is one of those reveals that urinate you rethink and recontextualize many of the conniption that follow before . And the petty slayer Stu ( Matthew Lillard ) is one of the most fun characters to fall into place the Ghostface masquerade party .

Stu ’s motivating for joining the shoot down spree is also one of the most upset , as he seems like a bored psycho who wanted to have some sport . Once he is revealed to be the grampus , Lillard goes all in with his madman performance , overplay it up it such an entertaining way .

Jill Roberts (Scream 4)

screeching 4might have gotten a bad tap from fans who see it was a lazy attempt to boot the dealership . However , like how the original flick subverted the slasher literary genre , Scream 4subverts the typical reboot . And one of the full examples of this is how Jill Roberts ( Emma Roberts ) is meant to be presented as the new Sidney Prescott but is actually revealed to be the new Ghostface .

Jill is front and center on for much of the movie , which hides the reveal really well . Her motivation is also quite compelling as she craves the form of care Sidney get from the murders and hope to take her place as the exclusive subsister of a masked cause of death .

Billy Loomis (Scream)

The idea that the fellow is the killer was nothing novel in the repugnance writing style at this pointedness , and was in fact a bit of a cliché by the timeScreamcame along . But the motion-picture show found a cunning way of reversing that cliché , make Sidney ’s boyfriend Billy ( Skeet Ulrich ) seem like such an obvious pick that you block up suspect him .

The moving picture creates question about Billy very betimes in the film but continues to throw doubt and reasons why it could not be him . All the doubt builds to the point that his reveal as the slayer is a genuine surprisal . And his fixation with horror films as his templet stimulate him seem all the more deranged .
