Palpatine
One of the reasons why someStar Warsfans were unhappy with the decision to bring Palpatine back was because , Disney being Disney , we knew how the saga was go to end .
Nobody expected the Sith Lord to reign supreme over Rey , particularly devote how he ’d already been vote out at the end ofReturn of the Jedi . So , while we were happy to see Ian McDiarmid back as the big arch villain , it ’s just a shame that he was destined to give-up the ghost before we ’d even caught a glimpse of him . The bad guy rope were never going to kill the good guys and , as a result , that shoot aside much of the mystique surrounding his return .
General Hux
InThe Force Awakens , General Hux was a formidable character . He was one who was more than happy to stand up up to Kylo Ren , despite the king the villain possesses . Yet inThe Last Jedihe regressed substantially , becoming more of a comedic figure .
And that was when it became obvious that Hux would n’t really be able to make it out animated . He just did n’t have the persuasiveness expect to deliver the goods in such a hard establishment . We thought Kylo would be the one to do the deed , but it ’s Allegiant General Pryde instead , with the First Order chief shooting him after learning of his determination to help the Resistance .
Boolio
Let ’s front it . If you pass data to the Resistance , while the First Order is literally breathe down on you , what chance do you have of making it out awake ?
None , as it turns out . We did n’t suppose we ’d see the case of Boolio again , wait the First Order to kill him off - covert . Yet we were surprised when Kylo Ren stormed into a meeting , placing the Resistance supporter ’s severed head on his table . So while his death was n’t totally shocking , elements of it were .
Knights of Ren
We ’d been expect big things from the Knights of Ren , with the cool - looking characters break down to appear inThe Last Jediafter being inaugurate to fans duringThe Force Awakens . However , in Sojourner Truth , they were a bit of a letdown . They do n’t utter a single word duringThe Rise of Skywalkerand , at the very end , are ruthlessly cut down by Kylo Ren .
Again , we ’re partly surprised . We kind of carry them to die because there was no chance Disney were ever decease to let the tough guys win . But we were shock that it was via Kylo ’s hand , with the Supreme Leader previously choosing to side with his troop , rather than against them .
Leia Organa
We genuinely did n’t thinkThe Rise of Skywalkerwould find a room to drink down off Leia . After all , she ’d made it out ofThe Last Jedialive , and we sleep with that Carrie Fisher was in the beginning going to have a huge role in the final episode of the sequel trilogy .
So we were shocked when Leia chose to give up the last of her lifeforce to get through to Kylo Ren . It ’s a poignant and emotional scene and , gratefully , a meaningful one . Leia ’s last routine helps her son realize that the way of the non-white side is n’t correct , with Kylo then becoming Ben Solo again at once afterward .
Allegiant General Pryde
When it was revealed that General Pryde would be introduced in the blockbuster , we could n’t help but feel that he ’d make it out alive . With Disney planning to continueStar Warsfurther down the phone line , an actor of Richard E. Grant ’s stemma would have been good to have on board .
Except that does n’t befall , with Pryde sensationally killed off in the same movie he ’s introduce . He was a entrancing character , full of malice and loyalty to Palpatine , but he conk in a blaze of gloriole , as the Resistance snap down the Final Order fleet from the skies .
Snap Wexley
This was one we really did n’t see come at all . partially because Snap Wexley is n’t a big character to invest in ( sorry Greg Grunberg , but it ’s on-key ) and because we revere one of the effect characters such as Rey , Finn , or Poe Dameron would bite the dust alternatively .
Yet Snap is a casualty of the battle above Exogal with his ship blasted out of the sky while a horrified Poe calculate on . We did n’t shed a tear , but we were still surprised that , out of all the characters who could have died , Grunberg ’s character was the chosen one .
Ben Solo and Rey
We ’re doing this as a joint last one because they ’re so as such linked , it wee-wee arrant sense .
first off , Rey . There was utter silence in the pic theater as it look like she ’d died using all of her forcefulness to keep Palpatine from triumphing and subject the wandflower to a dictatorship once again . The raft of her torso , with her eye widely opened , is truly distressing . And we were just as dismayed when Ben Solo then healed her back to life .
But the most surprising affair of the whole moving picture was what happen next . Ben , in redeem Rey , efficaciously transfer his living into hers , and he die rather abruptly . This was something entirely unexpected and contribute to audience penis literally pant in daze .
We ’d still have rather they keep Ben alive , but we ca n’t have everything . And , who be intimate , if Palpatine can hold out , why not the last of the Skywalkers too ?
