Congratulations on another Oscar nominating speech . I lovedFrozen 2 . I just want to have it off , because we watched a little snippet of Anna and Kristoff ’s duet , which was so wonderful . How do you say goodbye to song like that ?

Robert Lopez : You know , part of the thing that makes that process well-heeled is saying , " Well , it ’ll be on the DVD . " So , this is the moment for that call to have it today .

Frozen 2 Into the Unknown

But you know what ? Anything that makes the moving picture substantially end up being fine , emotionally . You do n’t really have any huge sorrow .

speak of making the movie well , we hear about how Kristen kind of discover the lyrics to " When I ’m senior " at the skating rink . Do you have any peculiarly memorable Sung discovery moment ?

Robert Lopez : I ca n’t bewilder that one . That was somewhat coolheaded . And I do n’t skate . I mean , I do , but I ’m so panic-struck of falling that it ’s almost Parkinsonian . I just ca n’t do it .

Frozen 2 Lieutenant Matthias

I was in the billet , and I was so happy when Kristen came back with that whole affair basically done . And I got to just sort of put it . That makes my business a passel prosperous , when Kristen does all the backbreaking work .

On the flip side , I believe that " Show Yourself " had maybe one of the farseeing pregnancy operation . What was it like get hold that song , which is such an significant part of Elsa ’s journeying ?

Robert Lopez : " Show Yourself " is the destination ; " Show Yourself " is the arrival . There ’s a lot of plot that ’s wrapped up in it , and we did n’t know exactly what the content of that conclusion was .

Elsa Uses Her Powers in Frozen 2

We did n’t cognise who that voice was that was call her , and we we did a first pass that had a different energy at the start and had a different middle and it had a unlike ending . It was n’t the mother . It was sort of a version of Elsa ; it was sort of the spirit Elsa that she becomes , and the two of them kind of mix together . And it was very cool , but it was confusing . And it did n’t have the emotional depth that it needed to have .

So , it assume a lot of going back and forth ; a passel of moments where we thought , " Maybe this is n’t the song . peradventure we necessitate to throw it out and pop out again . " But it was a journeying , and I ’m glad we went on it .

I ’m glad that you guy cable did too . It ’s a wonderful song . I love how much fiber work clearly go into finding strain for all the leads protagonists , but there ’s also some great new character we meet this clock time around . Do you have any song in your substance that you could write for them in the future ?

Frozen 2

Robert : Oh , you know , it all depends on the story . If we ever get another story , and it needed to be assure , then that story would be bursting with call .

I do care that we had had another character to compose for . We did get to write for Kristoff , which was kind of a raw thing , sort of .

And kind of for Sven .

Robert Lopez : And kind of for Sven . We got to pen for Iduna , who was basically a new graphic symbol for this one . So , we got to scratch that itchiness . And then the vocalization too . It was it was nice to have the voice to give Elsa something to inject for that was a positive journey , because she ’s the primary character of this one .

Frozenis still doing incredibly well on Broadway . But is there any possible action ofFrozen 2on Broadway , and would you be part of that ?

Robert Lopez : Not that I ’ve heard , but I ’d be kind of funny to hear the songs done live . We were on the Disney Fantasy , ironically , over Christmas gaolbreak . We do a lilliputian show and we ride on the cruises and do " Show Yourself " with some of the talent that was on the boat , and it was the most fun I ’ve had . It was the good part of Christmas .

ultimately , is there any special feature that you ’re most excited for devotee to see ?

Robert Lopez : You know , " domicile " was sort of our favorite song that got cut . It was a fortune of fun . It ’s a very folksy kind of song . It ’s a uke . My daughter , Katie , has become really honest at the ukulele and I wanted to write something that she could maybe even get a line . So , it ’s four chord on the ukulele . And it just felt like a great song .

It did n’t do what it involve to do ; it made the moving picture too slow to start . So , we had to write a unlike one there .

Hopefully we can all play it on the ukulele soon .

Robert Lopez : I invite everyone to attempt . It ’s not too strong . I can do it .
