Ant - Man has been dealing with the rise of a new threat from the insect world know as Macrothax , who even terrorize Nazi bee supervillain Swarm . Still inAnt - Man # 3by Zeb Wells , Dylan Burnett , and Mike Spicer , reeling from his encounter with Macrothax , Ant - Man is confront by his girl Cassie aka Stinger , who wants to link up the West Coast Avengers . Hoping to print his daughter , Ant - Man draws on his joining with the Avengers for " Take Your Daughter to Work Day " . This backfires spectacularly as Scott does n’t get much respect from the Avengers , but he does chance a raw lead , as Macrothax bears more than a passing resemblance to former Heroes for Hire , Humbug . The lead lead them to Spider - Man and Black Cat , with the latter a brother to the presume - dead champion .

Humbug first appeared inWeb of Spider - Man#19 as a low - level supervillain . Trying to make him for past Sin , Humbug joins the Heroes for Hire . However , Humbug at long last give away both the heroes - and insect - of Earth to side with the Brood Queen No - Name duringthe outcome ofWorld War Hulk . Infected by No - Name , he was supposedly killed by Shang - Chi - or was he ?
Spider - Man , Black Cat , Ant - Man and Stinger caput beneath Madison Square Garden for Humbug ’s last known location . There , they find Humbug ’s crumble remains enfold in a strange spire of flora . Before they can investigate further , they are snipe by Thread , Macrothax ’s minion composed solely of wild wilkworm . Eventually , they are driven off by Stinger ’s improved helmet . Spider - Man is in a hurry to go away as soon as possible , while Black Cat wants to check on Ant - Man . After they leave , Stinger reveals the honest reason Spider - Man was in a hurry to vacate the premiss - he was jealous of Black Cat ’s clear crush on Ant - Man .
All things consider , Black Cat ’s attractive feature to Ant - Man actually makes a peck of sensation . Ant - Man does his best to console Black Cat after they happen upon Humbug ’s corpse . She also laughs at Ant - Man ’s depreciating wittiness , which is probably a welcome change from Spider - Man ’s constantly sarcastic quip . Nor does it seem that Black Cat is intentionally make Spider - Man covetous - or actually mindful she is even doing it - as she ’s really concerned for Ant - Man after he bears the brunt of Thread ’s telepathic attack . Hopefully , this make pass magnet is covered somewhere down the line , as this coupling does have an odd couple sort of potential . After all , Felicia is a Caterpillar stealer with a predilection for the fine thing in biography , and Scott Lang is a struggling single fathercurrently residing in an ant - hill . There have been strange twain in comics , and a relationship between Ant - Man andBlack Catcould be the shot in the arm both characters need .
