While the Empire did n’t conceive the Death Star could be taken down - they did n’t do it about Galen Erso ’s sabotage - they also would n’t require it damaged when it had just been completed . Viewers versed in military maneuver have long puzzled over just what the Emperor and his tactician were thinking .
