Solo: A Star Wars Story

Welcome to ourStar Warscountdown . We ’ve given our thoughts on the serious and worst things fromThe Phantom Menace , Attack of the ClonesandRevenge of the Sithso far . And now it ’s fourth dimension to turn our tending toSolo , the firstStar Warsmovie that fail to be a box function strike .

We now take a look back at the 2018 blockbuster , covering everything from Lando Calrissian ’s swagger to L3 ’s rather irritating characteristics …

Best: Alden Ehrenreich as Han Solo

It was always pass away to be a big task step into Harrison Ford ’s shoes to play Han Solo . Particularly when there are spate of rumors on the internet claim that you ’re struggling with the role , like what poor Alden Ehrenreich had to put up with .

But those interest that Han Solo would n’t be as expectant without Ford were wrong . While he ’s still the best at impersonate the former moon-curser , Ehrenreich flourishes , giving off the same charming vibe as his predecessor . We ’re desire we see Ehrenreich for another movie with the actor supposedly concentrate for two more .

Worst: A Forgettable Plot

Disney always intended to do a Han Solo movie but it appears they were unsure how to spurt a secret plan together . Because while the movie has its highlights , and can certainly be entertaining in large parts , the genuine account and tale entrust much to be desired .

fundamentally , Han is sent to get some valuable stuff for Dryden Vos , who is work under Darth Maul ( not that we knew it at the metre ) . But it is n’t that interesting , ultimately doing nothing for the saga and certainly not earn anybody require to crave a sequel . It was simple enough to postdate but , for audiences who have been violate with plenteous and interesting plots over the eld , it was n’t up to scratch .

Best: Lando Calrissian’s Outfits

There was always go to be bad pressure on Donald Glover given he ’d be play the smooth practical joker that is Lando Calrissian who , when Billy Dee Williams had taken on the part during the original trilogy , became one of the most iconic characters within the franchise .

And it ’s good to say that Glover aced it , making even older fans feel as if they were back watching Williams . What help his effort was the swagger of the character with the costume section tack together astonishing outfits , complete with fascinating mantle . Han and Qi’Ra even take a flavor round his press and it ’s good to say that Lando does n’t stinge when it comes to looking right .

Worst: L3

When you opine of the bad Star Wars characters , Jar Jar Binks tends to hail top given how large he was during The Phantom Menace . Rose Tico , who seem in The Last Jedi , also seems somebody unpopular among the fan stem . But , perhaps worse than both of those two individuals is L3 , Lando Calrissian ’s droid .

It seems her only purpose is to send a substance that everybody has to be adequate which , while Disney ca n’t be faulted for believe that , does n’t fit into a Star Wars motion-picture show . L3 simply does n’t shut up about droid rights and it come as a relief when she ’s ruin , much to Lando ’s dismay . While he was devastated , however , the rest of us were relieved . Also , Phoebe Waller - Bridge ’s droid voice was irritating - so her being hush up was one of the good parting of the movie .

Best: The Qi’Ra Twist

Solobegins with Han Solo attempting to take flight with Qi’Ra , his girlfriend run by Game of Thrones actress Emilia Clarke . They end up being break up , however , and when they ’re finally reunite it emerges that Qi’Ra has start to solve for Dryden Vos , the same criminal who level Han with the task of find coaxium .

She later turn on her master , off him in a sensational twist . But there ’s a second twist call for when she ignore the chance to escape with Han in monastic order to face interrogation from her lawful superior , Darth Maul . More on the return of the famous Sith Lord to come .

Worst: Paul Bettany as Dryden Vos

In the previous Star Wars whirl - off movie , Rogue One , the scoundrel had been majestically used . CGI help oneself bring Peter Cushing ’s vile Grand Moff Tarkin back into the fold , Ben Mendelsohn is loathsome as Imperial officer Krennic while Darth Vader appear in just two scene - and steal the public eye in both .

That had fans hoping that the villain in Solo would be both somebody we ’d watch before and , if not , somebody with enough about them to vindicate their creation . But Dryden Vos was neither , easy killed by Qi’Ra and easily tricked by Han Solo . He was rather forgettable and nobody was clamoring to know more about him following the smash hit which , give way Paul Bettany ’s high store in Hollywood , is a cry ignominy .

Best: Darth Maul’s Return

Few had been expect to see Vader involved in Rogue One . But even less people think that Darth Maul would pop up in Solo , with his return prompting audience around the globe to gasp in shock .

He had last been seen in alive - action being slice up in half by Obi - Wan Kenobi during an epic showdown on Naboo during the first movie of the prequel trilogy , The Phantom Menace . And while he ’d returned in other material such asThe Clone WarsandStar Wars Rebels , the ken of Ray Park igniting the baddie ’s bivalent - bladed lightsaber against send shivers down our spine . We ’re hoping to see more of Maul , and his Crimson Dawn crime consortium , further down the line .

Worst: Nobody Went To See It

Before Solo , come The Last Jedi . And while there ’s great chunks of fans who wish the second movie of the subsequence trilogy , others are n’t so bang-up . And it look that those who hat the blockbuster stay forth from Solo , with the pic failing to hit the box billet peak as other instalment of the saga .

Made on a budget of $ 275million , it managed to gross just $ 392.9 meter across the universe - pee-pee it the worst outing of the entire dealership . Even the three Old flick , released at a time where they had less way to market their product , performed better for their respective time periods . And Solo ’s boxful office failings is why Disney are now rethink how they distribute material going forward .

Best: Han Meets Chewbacca

When you think of Han Solo , you ca n’t aid but imagine about Chewbacca at the same time . They ’re the double deed of double acts , making audiences express mirth with their diverting exchanges over the last 40 age . And Solo was always going to have to show their first group meeting .

And it does n’t let down . Han ab initio looks specify to be Chewie ’s next repast but , through the language of Wookie , he manages to persuade the beast into spar him instead . It ’s a comic moment for the movie and fit out for two legends of Hollywood .

Worst: It Just Didn’t Feel Necessary

Sure , a Han Solo movie sounds keen on paper . But it just did n’t feel necessary .

It surely has n’t made us want to see the picture show again in a horror . Do n’t get us wrong it was peachy seeing material like Han Solo sports meeting Chewbacca , Lando Calrissian ’s closet and , of track , the great deal of Darth Maul on the big silver screen again . But it was n’t necessary - which is perhaps another reason for its loser .
