An inevitable factor with any repulsion flick , given the right sentence and circumstances , is the subject of continuation . Whether to further the plot , precede raw concepts and idea , or just essentially make the same motion-picture show over and over again ,   sequels are a bad part of the   horror movie culture .

Granted , many films will never be as great as the original , but certain series have realize their reputation from their seniority . Some are unique , some are repetitive , and some have quite the prominent fan base of gore - athirst followers , but the picture still march forward and in some cases ahead . Here are ten revulsion series that have definitely make themselves a lifespan .

Night of the Living Dead (6 Films and Counting)

Though only six celluloid in the series live currently , two additional pic have been confirm to further continueGeorge Romero ’s immortal undead classic , Night of the aliveness Dead.essentially the pic that deliver thezombiegenre , we have to give it some serious esteem on our list .

Throughout the series , we ’ve find zombies take on a necropolis , a farmhouse , and even a shopping mall .   We ’ve seen them   come in all shapes , sizes , colors , and variation , all thanks to one sixties horror classic .   get to the wight ' reputation , we do n’t think they ’ll be ceasing anytime soon .

Paranormal Activity (7 Confirmed Films)

What a 7th film currently in developing , theParanormal Activityseries seems to hazard into parody district more often than some of the other films on our inclination . We ’re not going to lie , the found footage proficiency is n’t for everybody , but the series does have its audience .

Though not what we ’d call our favorite franchise , you ca n’t abnegate the fact that the shaky - cam serial publication of   hauntings and demonic possessions has garnered quite the following and quite the report as an iconic horror film serial . The horror might persist unseen , but the answer is as clear as day .

Texas Chainsaw Massacre (8 Films)

Now we ’re have into a series that has been here , there , and everywhere in terms of mood , atmosphere , and even genre . What began as a notoriously red victimisation film in the ' seventy soon spawned a franchise that go farther than hide deep .   We are of course talking aboutThe Texas Chainsaw Massacre .

The serial publication has been rebooted , remade , re - sequeled and recycle   over the line of eight different films . From a psychotic slasher film to a gross revulsion - funniness to a weird   conspiracy hypothesis dreck - fest ,   you ca n’t say they do n’t assist variety down at the Hewitt home .

Saw (8 Films)

Sawis a franchise so infamously long and repetitious that the serial itself recognized its own length of service . There was a metre where these   cornucopia of blood , scream , and steel came out not only once , but once a year for almost a decade . Eight films worth of traps ,   games , and gore galore   saturate and splattered our picture screens .

The twisted and tragic tale of John Kramer satisfied   the bloodlust of   audience everywhere for years . It did n’t matter where the plot of land went , just so long as everything was gracious and meaty by the clip quotation rolled .   With a Chris Rock - led   spin - off coming out , the games are far from over .

The Conjuring (8 Films)

Now we come to a more modern entry on our tilt , The Conjuringfranchise .   animate by the paranormal probe by Ed and Lorraine Warren ,   both the regular entries and the spin - off films have create a universe of terror that continually keeps fans coming back for more .   At least they ’ve got a raft to make for with .

touch , devil , possessed dolls , evil nuns , anything and everything a haunting expert could require to enquire , The Conjuringfranchise has it all . Unsettling , disturbing , and flat out creepy are just a few fashion we would account the series as a whole , and they just keep coming .

A Nightmare on Elm Street (9 Films)

Few icons of the slasher moving picture genre survive on one movie alone . You cognise what they say , always go out your audience wanting more . Well the Springwood Slasher himself , Freddy Krueger , has not only nine dissimilar celluloid , but a mildly successful TV serial publication that continue his nightmarish bequest .

This impudent - cracking dream fiend   has always been a basic of ' 80s horror and with a dealership as long as Freddy ’s , reputation tends to come after . True , many of them bank on cheesy thingmajig and corny kills , but you ca n’t deny the fun of Robert Englund ’s most iconic character reference .

Children of the Corn (10 Films)

Do n’t get us wrong , some repugnance picture show truly do merit their sequels . But we ca n’t fathom how or whyChildren of the Cornhas not one , not two ,   but ten films in its franchise !   The light story by repulsion Legend , Stephen King , rightfully does n’t have much continuation potential .   But that ’s never cease Hollywood before .

We ’ve run across the creepy corn - god - revere clan of kids go from the   field of honor of Nebraska to   the urban sprawling of LA to a made - for - television remake on SyFy .   Wherever they select to plant their crops of Terror , you’re able to calculate an US Army of malign underlings will follow .

Puppet Master (12 Films)

Full Moon Pictures   is known for only prepare one variety of moving-picture show , B - movies . Led by one of the undisputed Rex of the musical genre , Charles Band ,   ThePuppet Masterseries is the studio apartment ’s title to fame .   With 12 unveiling so far , business is doing exceptionally well for a cheesy repugnance flick .

Granted , the creature consequence are actually pretty telling , even back in the ' eighty when they bank on give up gesture . Blade , Jester , Pinhead , and all the relaxation are delightfully demented little monsters that would give Stripe and his brownie a little competition , and definitely a few lacerations as well .

Friday the 13th (12 Films)

It ’s been say that theFriday the 13thseries is essentially the same moving-picture show shot over and over and over again , and we ca n’t on the nose deny that .   A group of frisky teenager   trespasses on to Camp Crystal Lake where they should n’t be , Jason move after them with a variety of sharp physical object , one dupe lives to tell the taradiddle , throw in a ch - ch - ch ah - ah - ah - ah noise , and roll reference .

Watching a Jason movie is like watching a Frankenstein movie or a Kaiju fight . We do n’t give care a snatch about the plot of land ,   we ’re just here for the carnage . Though it has n’t achieved an appropriate 13th entrance yet , there ’s still time for the big guy to make one last trip to pack .

Halloween (13 Films)

The only guy who could rival Jason Voorhees in our eyes is none other than the Shape himself , Michael Myers . Halloween , go not the first slasher plastic film in existence , definitely jump - started the slasher craze of the 1980s . Without him , there ’d be no Jason , Freddy , or even Art the Clown .

Though   the masked Maniac has gone aside and back again   from his original expression , even cameoing in a bear - alone picture show ,   Halloween will never be the same for the resident physician of Haddonfield Illinois ( or Jamie Lee Curtis for that matter ) . What can we say but if it works it play .
