Along with the family feud , Barbara must face up a more ominous possibility - that James Jr. has allied himself with the Joker .
It does n’t help that the Joker is currently launching his own attack against Batman and his allies . He ’s also seemingly gained control over the amnesiac Nightwing , giving him one bird in the hand . What other surprises he has up his arm remains to be take care , but it almost sure wo n’t be pretty for the Bat - Family .

James Gordon Jr. first look inBatman#407 in 1987 , making him a comparatively recent addition to the Batman canon . While his babe Barbara ultimatelyfollowed in her father Jim Gordon ’s footstepsby becoming the vigilante Batgirl , James Gordon Jr.seemed destined for a darker track , demonstrate signs of psychopathological tendencies too soon in childhood . If his mission is indeed to force the Gordons out of Gotham , it could go either way . He could be working in concert with the Joker to strip Batman of his most hardy ally , or quite possibly , he could be trying to protect his family . . . in his own misrepresented mode . Whatever his plans are , it will almost certainly amount to a reckoning with his sister Batgirl - and perhaps the entire Bat - Family .
