In the Modern adventure of DC’sJustice League , the heroes heighten their search for the Jim Corrigan , the human horde ofThe Spectre , by passing through the Gate of Tartarus . While this trip into ancient mythology does n’t worry Barry Allen , Wonder Woman knowns how much could go wrongly … and it does .
Before the League can even pass on the gate , they are stopped bythe Amazons , who berate Wonder Woman for bringing her male companions - thereby breaking the sacred police force of their island . Queen Hippolyta intervenes , but before Diana can reason with her , Hippolyta and the rest of the Amazons fall underthe influence of The Spectre , the spirit of retribution . devotee of the CW ’s Arrowverse may recall that Oliver Queen became The Spectre at the end of the five - partCrisis on Infinite Earths , but this adaptation of the The Spectre is far less friendly . Without Corrigan as its host , The Spectre has become unhardened , and threatens to dive the domain into chaos .

The League handle to break through the Amazon forces with anawesome Modern Justice League battle cry . Green Lantern stays behind to prevent the Amazons from killing each other while under The Spectre ’s patch , but the rest of the heroes continue on to the Gate of Tartarus . The room is impede by a giant boulder that only Diana can move , since the cavern will only unveil itself to an Amazon . Once inwardly , Diana discourage the squad that they can not leave the gate open for prospicient , and sends Flash to look ahead .
As it turns out , Flash ’s speed was scarce necessary . Corrigan is found not too far into the cavern - and he ’s looking a small worse for wear . He explicate to the League that he ’s been there for twenty years ( sentence works other than in Hell ) and warns them that they demand to leave , but his admonition is too late . The Italian sandwich take care up to see Tartarus himself , the first god of Hell , towering above them with only one thing on his judgment - escaping through the receptive gate .
After being in quarantine , most of us can credibly relate to Tartarus ’s displeasure at being cooped up in Hell for so long , but it ’s fairly unlikely that he just wants to get a haircut or go to his pet restaurant . TheJustice Leaguewill sure enough have their hands full in the next issue assay to take him on as they scramble to get Corrigan back through the gate .
