Hi ! So this flick is fantastic . There ’s one scene , in peculiar , where I wanted to just stand up and cheer . It ’s your big second where you say something along the logical argument of , " God damn it , this is why people hate lawyer ! " It ’s all this legalese that people apply , that lawyers use to apologise these horrifying acts of … Imperialistic capitalism , I do n’t know what the word is .

Tim Robbins : Corporate law-breaking .

corporal crime . What is the line at which someone has to put their hands down and go , " Damn it , we have to do the correct matter . "

Tim Robbins : It ’s different for different mass . Hopefully , this movie will inspire those in positions of great power to know what their bottom line of reasoning is , and to take a stand themselves .

Is that part of why you wanted to do this pic ?

Todd Haynes : Oh yeah . The movie was an opportunity to assure a story . A dead on target tarradiddle , an ongoing tale . We ’re now at the twenty yr sign of the battle that Rob Bilott , that sort of circumstantially stumble into his overlap in 1998 , while working as a defense lawyer in downtown Cincinnati . And work within the regulatory cultivation and believing that there was a unspoilt way for industriousness and regulation to coexist . And I call up that ’s moderately much Tom Turp ’s preference , as well , the character Tim trifle in the movie . And they thought at first , no , there ’s have to be a mistake here . We can fancy this out , we know these DuPont guy wire ! In a room , that very premise makes the story so much more interesting . It ’s not the obvious … bleed centre liberalist is gon na take on the organization and has it out for them and already screw what the conclusion outcome , what they ’re look for , is , a sentience of monolithic corruption . He is methodical and immune . It ’s very much about the outgrowth of find and what do you do about it ? Especially when there ’s no obvious sound tools at your disposal to take on a companionship this massive , who has all of the scientific discipline walled off within their own campus right ? And no one who interpret what this chemical substance is who lives out of doors of the control and influence of a troupe that big .

It ’s frustrate . While you ’re watching the movie , it ’s queer . I envisage , when the movie was being made , that you had to be like , " Wait , is this real ? " And yeah . They order themselves .

Tim Robbins : And there are how many chemical substance that were invented before the EPA that were grandfathered in ? So we do n’t any testing .

And they all get a pass for the only reason being that it would be too expensive to check them all . So , " Oh , no one we know has die yet , so … " Ahh !

Tim Robbins : When Todd enjoin it ’s on-going , it ’s still happen today . Even yesterday in the New York Times front varlet , they were reporting that the EPA is try out to discombobulate out the science , is trying to throw out any scientific discipline that join poisons in our atmosphere or water system to cancer or any other illness . So Rob ’s study , which was extensive – 70,000 people give their blood and filled out forms this thick – they showed a direct connection between PFOAs and six illnesses . The EPA , the Environmental Protection Agency , want to throw out that science now . Why ? Because pot like DuPont are still liable for it and will have to pay to take care of the multitude that they poison . And they do n’t want to do that . That ’s the world we ’re living in , and that ’s why it ’s important , this flick . That ’s why this story is important . That ’s why people like Rob Bilott are substantive in a majority rule . You have to have these mass that are pursuing the accuracy and the overall commodity of the people , whether you ’re go out , right , center , does n’t matter . Poison does n’t separate .

Well , thank goodness we have a President who like about the people and wo n’t put the corporation before – Oh no .

Todd Haynes : There ’s something we can do about that , and we ’d well get start fast .
