En Brazos De Un Asesino , out in theaters this week , dives into the lethal coalition between a young woman held captive for ten year and the assassin who becomes her means of escape . Based on the first novel in the popular In the Company of Killers series , the narration was adapted for flick by role player William Levy . He also stars in it , and he partake with Screen Rant why it was so important for him to create more opportunity in the Latin entertainment market place .
William , praise . This is a great projection , and you have on a spate of hats on this . manufacturer , author , star the pic - this has been with you since the beginning . Can you talk to me about how you came across the novel , and how and why you wanted to adjust it to film ?
William Levy : We were looking for contents that created opportunities . You roll in the hay , I want to stop being the thespian that was count for opportunities for myself and become the guy cable who creates chance . You get old , you get wiser , and you change . So , we started reading Holy Writ , trying to find something we liked . And we find this al-Qur’an called Killing Sarai , which is part of a novel [ series ] of seven book , written by New York Times bestselling author , J.A Redmerski . And we thought it was sodding . You lie with , it was very dissimilar from what I ’ve done in the Latin market . I wanted to give them something different , of course . And , you experience , I like this flick . The way you said it , I really like this movie . I thought it was very cool to have one movie with action and suspense ; romance . And it ’s not the normal Romance language , it ’s kind of unlike . There ’s romance , it ’s just a little hardcore .
There ’s something for everybody . This fare in a long line of assassin moving picture . There are influence like Robert Rodriguez ’s El Mariachi ; there ’s influences from Luc Besson’sThe Professional . Can you talk to me about some of the other influence that may have played a gene into this film ?
William Levy : At the goal of the day , what you want to do - which is what every conductor that you mentioned , and more of them have done - is create fun movies . We want to make fun movies and , of course , we have the toilsome part . Because in the Latin market , we do n’t have that bighearted budget . So , when it comes to making these form of moving picture that involve some natural action , it ’s very pricy . It costs a flock to make these thing , so you got to verify that every cent is on screenland when it comes to that . At the remainder of the mean solar day , the whole dot here is to make movies that flirt with the audience .
I love these fibre . And as you mentioned , this is from a account book series [ calledIn the Company of Killers . ] Do you call up that we ’ll see Victor and Sarai again somewhere down descent ? Because I saw on IMDB , and I do n’t have it off how true this is , that there was aKilling SaraiTV serial in development . Is that something that you ’re working on ?
William Levy : It was say to be a series originally , and then we twist it into a film . But the alternative for the serial publication is still there . If it act upon , or else of making another film , we might go out there and make a whole serial of seven Holy Scripture . So , we have that selection undecided .
As a manufacturer and writer , it ’s a little hard to let go of scenes that make it to the thinning floor . Are there any scenes that were hard for you to let go of ?
William Levy : A lot . That ’s the hardest part of accommodate a leger into a moving picture , because you so much . And always , the audience that read the book and the writer of the book go , " Oh , that scene ! " And it hurts . That ’s why we want to make it a serial publication , because we wanted to put every little thing there . You only have one hour and 40 minutes you know ? You ca n’t put everything in there .
So , of course , there were some . At the end of the solar day , someone ’s going to hurt . But I think we did a with child job ; I consider we dumbfound to the book as you sleep with as much as we could .
I loved it , because there ’s suspense . There ’s action . There ’s romance . There ’s a little bit for everybody . And I really do hope this beak up , and hopefully we get the serial publication .
William Levy : Yeah , I hope that too .
William , now you ’ve got to make that happen .
William Levy : If the hearing like it , we ’ll make it a series for sure .
