Zombieland: Double Tap

In 2009 , the tale of zombie hunting watch Columbus , Tallahassee , Wichita , and Little Rock bedazzle critics and audiences alike with its sharp wit , star cast , and sense of gloating . Now , 10 old age afterwards , Zombieland : duple Tapis in field , and threatens to offer just as much repellant popcorn entertainment as it did before the entire plaster cast became Academy Award nominees .

The film is a nostalgic blast from a simpler past times , before zombi became old - chapeau , and it does a respectable business at keeping the free , fun tone from the original as well as adding some marvelous jokes of its own .

The Bill Murray Interview

While Bill Murray ’s place in the continuation is no match for his revelatory character in the original , the post - credits setting ofDouble Tapdoes bring Bill back for an interview set in 2009 on the day the apocalypse fall apart out . promote a thirdGarfieldfilm , capitalizing on one of the funniest assembly line from the original , Murray is chewing the scenery as a lethargic , angry version of himself , that all fits when he is allowed to casually take out swarms of zombie interviewer that derive towards him .

Tallahassee vs. the Minivan

Tallahassee does n’t care vans , that much was made clear in the first picture show , so the raw progression is to put this red - blooded American in one of America ’s most sensible motorcar for the duration of the sequel . Constantly complain , Tallahassee is tempt with the carrot on a stick of his personal vehicle ( which is destroyed ) , and a goliath hand truck ( which he can not drive ) , before the frustration gets the in effect of him and he sky a grenade into it and watch it burn .

For as much as the adult male loves Twinkies , Elvis , and his own taste for carnage , he hat many things as much , if not more . Clearly , minivans are one of those things .

The Monster Truck

Setup , and payoff . It ’s so dewy-eyed , but when a comedy , especially a big studio apartment comedy , pulls it off , it ’s just so delightful . fresh characters Albuquerque and Flagstaff come in into the film on this hulking monster truck , crushing Tallahassee ’s prized machine in the process . It ’s a fun visual metaphor , but once the gang goes on their way , so does the monster truck . And then , at the ‘ all is lost ’ point , in comes Nevada , Tallahassee ’s newfangled dearest interestingness , jump a fencing in this 12 - foot - magniloquent behemoth , crushing everything in its Wake Island . The question is n’t if they ’ll be save , but what will keep them , and this was the best , and funniest , potential option .

Woody Harrelson’s “Burning Love”

Another fantastic here and now in the film ’s credit come up more subtly , and if you ’re in the habit of tuning out end - cite songs , you ’ll miss it . Where the original film led with Tallahassee ’s fixation with Twinkies , the sequel relies on his making love of Elvis Presley , and innumerable reference to The King and Graceland pepper the film . Which makes it all the better when , as the credits roll , the audience is plow to a full rendering of Elvis ’ “ Burning Love ” , spill the beans entirely by Woody Harrelson in persona . It ’s dead joyful , and far easily than it has any right to be .

“Everyone knows who Bob Dylan is”

Throughout the film , Little Rock ’s hippie boyfriend Berkeley sings songs for her that he return off as his own , and she gives back a childlike starry - eyed smile . It ’s the one character trait of Berkeley that puts the audience squarely on Tallahassee ’s side that he ’s a grifting tinder not worthy of Little Rock .

And then , near the conclusion of the picture show , Little Rock allow the façade bead and she calls him out , say that even though her knowledge of euphony is limited as she produce up in the zombie apocalypse , “ everyone knows who Bob Dylan is ” . It ’s simple , satisfying , and quite comic to see the slack - jawed expression on Berkeley ’s look .

Zombie Kill of the Year

A guy topples the Leaning Tower of Pisa onto a chemical group of zombie , crush them under one of the most notable watershed in the story of civilization . If that ’s not beautiful , then nothing is . And if that ’s not Zombie Kill of the Year , then that means somebody had to have dropped a pyramid onto the undead , or something else of that jumbo magnitude .

Zombified Albuquerque and Flagstaff

For as funny as Luke Wilson and Thomas Middleditch ’s performance are as mirror versions of Tallahassee and Columbus , some of the good jokes in the segment fare after the two , in a mistaken show of heroic meter , get act and become zombies themselves . Calling back to various zombie kills from the first , the scrap is the sloppiest and tense in the two films , with numerous close - calls and tenseness relieving jokes , only for the spunk to ratchet up again instantly . It ’s the good sort of conniption , curious , thrilling , and honestly a little sad , which realize the comedy only dispatch harder .

“Murraying”

It does n’t matter how Nevada would have learned that Bill Murray was hit by someone who misidentify him for a zombi , but somehow , the data that Columbus erroneously shot one of America ’s expectant funnymen in 2009 got to her .

So , when in front of the nervous Columbus , she tongue-in-cheek talks about how she almost “ Murrayed ” him , and would happily take out which fool really pull the initiation on Ol’ Bill if she found them . All Columbus can do is laugh , and swallow the knowledge that he was that very fall guy .

Rules vs. Commandments

Another moment from the Albuquerque / Flagstaff detour , where Flagstaff and Columbus patronage the latter ’s notable rule for the former ’s set of teaching , comes to mind when thinking about the film . Seeing Jesse Eisenberg and Thomas Middleditch , two of the cleverest and most nebbish performers ferment , trying to one - up each other in a secret plan of ‘ who can be the most paranoid and thrifty ’ is hysteric . It ’s a ignominy that within five minutes of this , Flagstaff is trying to feed Columbus . That does put a damper on most fun rivalries .

Madison’s Return

For as lovely as the entire honk ofDouble Tapis , the show - stealer is well Zoey Deutch , whose portrait of naïve , enthusiastic Madison takes the film and runs away with it for the few transactions she ’s on screen before she seemingly finds herself victim to the virus and is put out of her miserableness . However , as the film get on , and Columbus and Wichita ’s relationship is mended , Madison comeback , in all her blistering pinkish glorification , having not been infected , and just suffering an allergic reaction to Nut . Having her in the third bit is fantastic , giving more meter to a character that contrasts with all four leads attractively , all without even realizing what she ’s doing . The character , and the performance , is the highlight of the moving picture , and have her fare back in such a fantastically dumb way is one of the film ’s best decision .
